Hazel

Hazel

Hi Guys, Just thought I'd pass on a couple of photos that the new owner, Elizabeth, took of Hazel, the dog I fostered some months back with Pipkin. I asked her to take some photos when she adopted her so you can put them on your facebook and she has.

She also said that Hazel is THE most wonderful dog. Definitely nice to hear

Hope you're all well.

Regards, April

Hazel was adopted on 26/04/10 after 3 months in foster care.

Tabitha

Tabitha

Hi Leslie, Thought I would give an update on Ella [Tabitha] who continues to delight and enchant with her sweet-natured temperament and enthusiasm. We have watched such a rapid development in these past two weeks from a tentative and shy, snugly little thing into a more adventurous, full of wonder, bigger, snugly little thing. I love seeing her accomplish things which the day before she just couldn't do - like going up and down steps. She's a great little girl and we love her dearly.

She had her stitches out last Tuesday and I asked about her vaccination. The vet told me there is a two-shot vaccination available so pups can start socialising a month earlier. So I will take Ella in later this week for that. Puppy school is on the agenda next month.

Yesterday we took her to our farm at Hampton. She is quite a good car traveller and went in the back of our station wagon happily enough with some encouraging words from Catherine who patted her from the back seat.

Included with this email are some photos for you.

Best wishes, Wendy, Denis and Catherine

Tabitha was adopted on 1/8/10 after 1 month in foster care.

Neelix

Neelix

Hi Cassandra, We adopted Neelix (now called Monty) from you.

He has settled in beautifully and is a lovely, lovely cat

he and our 2.5 year old son, Toby; go everywhere together

even to the toilet! After a big morning playing and running around yesterday, Toby slept for three hours, Monty too, and then it all started up again. Monty was in bed and asleep by 7, Toby 7.30.

The best toy for a toddler is a kitten! We love him

he is a real character and is perfect for Toby

he puts up with being carted around, played with, patted, rumbled and snuggled. He helps with cooking, cleaning, playing and of course showers

but he only got in once! Now he sits outside and waits for us to get out and move on to the next exciting thing that needs doing.

A great cat for us!

Thank you so much for this wonderful addition to our family

Regards

Nic, Simon and Toby

Neelix was adopted on 07/06/2010 after 4 months in foster care.

Leopard and Cloudy

Leopard and Cloudy

To everyone at DCH, the family who took us to DCH and Balmain foster carer Claire

It's taken us a while to learn how to use our butlers' laptop but, now we have mastered it, we want to say thank you to you all for giving us such a great start in life. We are really happy lucky ladies who have a cushy little number: the run of a house with lots of toys and treats and two servants at our disposal.

We thought you'd like to see some photos from our family album. Here we are cuddling and grooming, practicing our acrobatics and making dinner-time as fun, and as complicated, as possible.

love Kiki and Baby (the sisters formerly known as Leopard and Cloudy)

ps Our new butlers (they like to call themselves our mum and dad) want us to pass on their thanks to you too. They say they couldn't be happier with DCH's service and that they are madly in love with us (naturally.)

Leopard and Cloudy were adopted on 01/01/2010 after 1 month in foster care.

Squeak

Hi

my family adopted the cat Squeak from your organisation. He was being looked after by Danielle and I wanted to let her know of how he is.

Squeak has been such a wonderful addition to our family and we love him so much. As soon as we got him home he began rolling around and purring. He is always happy and wants constant attention from us. He loves to sleep on the beds with us and curls up on the pillow. Squeak's sweet nature and playful spirit makes him great for our other cat Tilly who was reluctant with him at first. They are now great friends and spend all their time with each other. Squeak is a very curious boy and loves being outside with Tilly. The two of them stay close to each other and climb the trees and fences, he has never gone far and always comes when called. He is always friendly to strangers and is fairly nervous with new people. We can't imagine things without him and we will be adopting from you in the future.

Thank you.

Alexandra.

Squeak was adopted on 06/12/2009 after 9 months in foster care.

Jasper

Jasper

Hi Amanda, Not sure if you remember us but last year in July we adopted Jasper. Today we are celebrating his 1st birthday and we wanted to give you an update on how the little fella is going.Little Jazzy, as he is often called, is one of the family and comes with us pretty much wherever we go. He attends doggy day care once a week which he is obsessed with, has a dog walker on Wednesdays and goes to the off leash dog park in Bayview everyday where he loses his mind. All in all, expensive but well worth it to see how excited he gets. Needless to say he is thoroughly spoiled. We love him to bits and he has made us incredibly happy. We don't know how we ever lived without him!!

Jasper is the most social dog we have ever come across and is forever licking the faces of every other dog he meets. He has MANY friends at both the dog park and doggy day care which you can see in some of the photos. Jasper is a really well behaved dog, although he still has a slight tendency to chew through things and meticulously pulls out all the stuffing (and eyeballs) from his fluffy toys. We recently discovered that two other dogs he regularly plays with have come from DCH Adoptions. The dogs are Maloo who was previously called Jordy and Juno. We hope his sister Lola is doing well and if you have any photos of her we'd really like to see them. You guys do an amazing job and you bring so much joy to the adoption families.

We just thought we would send you through some photos as he has grown up, as you said you would be very interested to see how he looks when he's older. As you can see he is still a handsome young lad and still gets all the attention at the dog park.

Thanks again and enjoy....

Jono and Liz

Jasper was adopted on 29/07/2009 after 1 month in foster care.

Max

Max

Hi Karen, Just wanted to let you know that Max the gorgeous Labrador is settling in really well in his new home with me. We love each other to death!!! He's very happy playing in the back yard through the day and of a night time we go for a walk and then play with his ball then watch TV together (well he passes out at my feet but I watch TV!!)

He is getting over his fear of people slowly but surely and his growing more confident in his surroundings every day. He is eating and sleeping well and has had 2 baths and a vet check up already. The vet is delighted with his health and weight (now at 30kg even of which we will be keeping him at).

Every time I walk him people want to come over and meet him which is great because he is getting better at meeting and greeting people -he still walks perfectly well on the lead and he rides well in the car when we visit my father in Castle Hill - he's even had his first ride in a lift (he's not too sure about lifts and is usually happy to be out of there!).

I have attached a photo of him for you to see him lounging in my father's red velvet arm chair of which he claimed as his when we weren't watching!!

Hope you are well and I will keep you posted on the adventures of my beautiful boy!!

Kind Regards

Louise

Max was adopted on 20/3/2010 after 2 weeks in foster care.

Rahni

Rahni

Hi Karen

I just wanted to email you to let you know that Rahni has settled in really well with our family. She is such a good girl!

I have attached a photo of her with my little one, Rhys. He says he loves Rahni so much he's going to marry her.

Rahni's fantastic with my kids and my kids' friends. Everyone who meets her loves her. She is very hesitant with men so I think both her and Max have been mistreated by a male somewhere along the way. My husband Steve is slowly winning her trust and she will quite happily go for a walk with him now or sit with him at night and watch tv but if she has a choice between Steve and I she will always come to me.

I take her for a walk off her lead in the bush behind our house every morning and throw the ball for her for ages and she loves it! She also enjoys a good long walk. She's met some of my friend's dogs and had a play. I'm going to take her to the off lead park near our house soon for a run around with some other dogs. She does seem ok without Max though. She howled on the second night we had her and cried while I was at work that day but since then she's been good as gold.

So Karen I can safely say we will be keeping Rahni. Thank you for letting us adopt her. She's a pleasure to have.

Kind regards

Carol

Rahni was adopted on 15/3/2010 after 2 weeks in foster care.

Tinky Winky

Tinky Winky

Dear Karen and family, Just a little note to let you know how Tinky Winky is getting along. We have renamed her Izzy which also seems to suit her and she doesn't seem to mind. After spending a few days in her little sun room with her litter tray, huge scrachting pole with view from the window, and food and water bowls, plus plenty of toys; she enjoyed longer periods of being out and about in the big world of our flat. We did plenty of scent swapping and blanket swapping and gradually the gap in between the doors got a little wider. We then went to visits out to the other cats in a carrier, plus daily explorations of the house while the others checked out her sun room. Within a week she had supervised visits out with the others and although we still pop her back in her room at night and when we have to leave the house, she is spending longer and longer out and about with the other cats.

Vlad, the 15 year old Devon Rex is a darling and greeted her with a kiss on the nose right from almost the beginning, and now puts up with all manner of mischief from her. Chelsea, our now 2 year old DSH

Tabbie, was at first a little disgruntled, and although playful, we were worried the play was getting a little rough on Chelsea's part. Izzy now seems to have things under control and lots of reassurance on our part towards Chelsea, plus one threat of a water bottle on one occasion when Chelsea was being a little mean, seem to have done the trick. As I write this Izzy is playing with a little toy with a bell inside a large paper bag and Chelsea is sitting nearby, watching all the fun and occasionally trying to join in by batting a scrunched up paper in Izzy's direction! It's great to see them running about together. Janine seems to be Izzy's favourite and Izzy will lay on her for ages watching telly, but today she curled up on my lap when I arrived home from work, so I was quite chuffed about this. She has grown heaps in just over a week, and we are off to the vet with her for her second vacination this Friday. The attached photos were taken in the first few days after her adoption, but we'll send you a few more mixing with her new feline friends as soon as I can get the batteries charged up again!

Menwhile Izzy would like to say a big hi to her mum and asks about how she is getting on. I'm sure she misses her siblings(and of course her human foster carers!) a bit too, but for all the recent changes, seems pretty relaxed with her new found family. A special thanks to you Karen for being a foster carer and such a good one. Little Izzy is not scared of anything and is one super brave little dynamo! Thanks too to all the other foster carers and to Megan at DCH Animal Adoptions for making our adoption possible and for saving so many others from the pound.

Many thanks and good wishes from Louise, Janine and little Izzy (formerly known as Tinky Winky). XXX.

Tinky Winky was adopted on 14/4/2010 after 2 months in foster care.
